Obakeng serves as Pele Energy Group’s Business Development Director.
Before Joining his fellow founders at Pele, Obakeng spent five years in the financial services industry as an interest rate derivative trader at Standard Bank and TCTA. In Obakeng’s fourteen years at Pele Energy Group he has lead infrastructure and power expansion as head of project development, as well as headed up business development and the management of project companies. His numerous contributions include strategic transactor in all investment and funding processes as well as a keen focus on stakeholder relations.
In the past fourteen years, Obakeng has played a key role in the success of multiple projects and funding applications at Pele Green Energy including the $1 million United States Trade and Development Agency Grant, Financial Closure: Copperton, CPV1, Nojoli, Kuvaninga, Redstone and Greenday to name a few. Obakeng also serves as director on the CPV and Kuvaninga Projects, as well as the board of the Buskaid charity.
Obakeng holds a Bcom in Investment Management from the University of Johannesburg and is proudly affiliated with the Black Energy Professional Association and the DMRE Gender Equality Committee.
