John-Edrich Starke, is a distinguished legal expert with a robust career in the energy sector, marked by his extensive experience and exceptional leadership in various high-profile roles. With a total of eight years in the energy sector, John-Edrich has been a energising force in shaping legal strategies and managing complex contracts across diverse regions.

Before joining Pele Energy Group, John-Edrich was the Executive General Counsel for GE Renewable Energy, where he was responsible for legal operations in the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey (MENAT), and Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) regions. Additionally, he served as the Global Sourcing Counsel, playing a pivotal role in the company’s global supply chain initiatives. His tenure at GE Renewable Energy was preceded by his role as Head of Legal & Contract Management for GE Power, covering the SSA region, where he expertly navigated legal complexities and drove successful contract negotiations.

John-Edrich currently serves as the Group General Counsel at Pele Energy Group, where he oversees all legal affairs, providing strategic guidance and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. His role is critical in supporting the company’s overall mission to deliver innovative and sustainable energy solutions, by driving growth and legal integrity at Pele Energy Group.

John-Edrich's academic credentials include a Bachelor of Commerce in Law (BCom Law), a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), and a Master of Laws (LLM) with a specialisation in Tax Law. His comprehensive legal education, combined with his practical experience, has equipped him with a deep understanding of both the legal and commercial aspects of the energy industry. John-Edrich is also a member of the Law Society of South Africa and has been recognised on the Legal 500 GC Powerlist 2024 (South Africa).
