About Us

Pele Energy Group (PEG) is a sustainable development company. The organisation was founded in 2009 and committed to structural change in national and global development. Harnessing this through establishing itself as a leading, African Independent Power Producer (IPP) that develops, builds, owns, and operates green energy plants of around 2000MW currently in operation and under construction across Africa, as well as the socio-economic development arm of our business that develops the communities within which we operate and beyond. We do this through our three divisions of the business: Pele Green Energy, Knowledge Pele, and Pele Natural Energy.

Our founding entrepreneurs identified clean energy and the economic development of peri-urban and rural communities as the areas where we would focus our efforts and capabilities. Our goal is to positively impact these communities by providing sustainable energy solutions and creating sustainable education and employment opportunities.

We have a proven track record of being a first-mover and were among the first 28 IPPs awarded power generation licenses in 2011. Over the past 13 years, we have reinforced our first-mover advantage by deepening our operational capabilities across the energy value chain.

Our story is one of entrepreneurship, innovation, and impact. We are scaling and implementing our strategy with a talented group of professionals. As a result, we are making real strides towards being a truly sustainable development organisation. We are proud to contribute to the growth and development of South Africa and the African continent.
